High North Peak Hike

12° 30.5′ N · 61° 26.4′ W

A climb to the top of Carriacou, High North Peak at 956 ft (291 m), through the dry forest of High North National Park, with views over Hillsborough Bay, Petite Martinique and the Grenadines.

Practical

Summit coordinate is the OpenStreetMap 'High North' peak node; height from Wikipedia and Noonsite. Dive Carriacou: a nice hike to the island's summit with a great view; walking shoes and good fitness essential, because 'it climbs'. It also recommends High North National Park for shady trails, birdwatching and nature. The coastal High North Nature Trail starts beyond Bogles village north of Hillsborough (Caribbean Beat) and links to Anse La Roche. OpenStreetMap shows an 'Atlantic Viewscape' viewpoint near the summit (12.5076 N, 61.4402 W) and labelled trees along the trail. Start early to beat the heat, carry plenty of water, and get dropped at Bogles by bus or taxi. The Howarths' 'hiking for cruisers' notes, referenced by Noonsite, document a Carriacou hike.
