Fort George (St George's)
12° 3.0′ N · 61° 45.2′ W
Fort George is a French-built bastion fort from 1706–1710, set on the knoll between the Carenage and the open sea, with sweeping views over the harbour, the Lagoon and the south coast. It was the scene of Maurice Bishop's execution in 1983 and still houses the Royal Grenada Police Force headquarters.
Practical
Position is the Wikipedia/GeoHack coordinate. Reach it on foot from the steps beside the Sendall Tunnel exit, or by the road that continues to the General Hospital. Wikivoyage (January 2023) describes the historic part as tumbledown, with the view as the main reason to go. It was open 7 am–5 pm daily with a small charge of about $2 (verify locally). Cannon batteries remain. It makes a good lookout to check the harbour approach before you leave.
