Château Dubuc Ruins (Caravelle)

14° 46.1′ N · 60° 53.4′ W

The atmospheric ruins of a 1725 planter's house and sugar-and-coffee estate worked by enslaved people, at the end of the Caravelle road above the Baie du Trésor. Local legend says a colonist hid his treasure here (Régis Guillemot).

Practical

Position from French Wikipedia. The master house was built in 1725 for Louis du Buc du Galion. The ruins and grounds have been a classified historic monument since March 31, 1992. Trailheads for both Caravelle loops start next to the ruins (Lonely Planet). There is a small micro-museum on site (OSM). Land by dinghy at the Baie du Trésor beach and walk up, or come by road.
