The Baths Day Moorings
18° 25.8′ N · 64° 26.9′ W · approximate
The National Parks Trust day-mooring field off The Baths and Devil's Bay: pick up a ball, dinghy to the swim line and swim ashore into the boulders. First-come, first-served and usually full by mid-morning in season.
Practical
Coordinate is approximate: placed about 190 m off the beach between The Baths and Devil's Bay using the OpenStreetMap coastline; the balls spread along this shore. NPT moorings are DAY USE ONLY (overnight use is illegal) with a 90-minute limit, first-come, first-served. Buoy colours: orange = non-diving day use; white = diving only; yellow = commercial vessels only; large 35-inch yellow = commercial 55 to 80 ft; blue = dinghies only. Vessels 55 to 80 ft may not use the regular balls. Check the pick-up line and down-line before leaving the boat; you remain responsible for your vessel. A Marine Conservation Permit is required by law: buy it online from the NPT (processed within 5 business days), at the NPT offices in Road Town or at The Baths, or through your charter company; a 2026 Noonsite report says Customs at Spanish Town no longer sold them. Wardens patrol and check permits (a 2016 cruiser paid a warden US$12 for a one-day permit valid at all park moorings; old price, verify locally). Do not anchor: the moorings exist to protect the reef. Swells from the north in winter make the field unusable (red flag); with a southerly component the field is rolly. The permit does not include the US$3 land entry fee.
Best for
Morning or late-afternoon day stop for The Baths, Devil's Bay and Spring Bay
Season
Best in settled trade-wind weather; unusable in winter north swell
