Puerto Ferro Lighthouse

18° 5.8′ N · 65° 25.4′ W

A sealed, neoclassical Spanish lighthouse of 1896 on the headland of Puerto Ferro, inside the wildlife refuge, with a short trail to a small beach.

Practical

Coordinates from Wikipedia. The light was deactivated in 1926; it is now in the Vieques National Wildlife Refuge. The Puerto Ferro Trail (0.29 mile, easy) starts from the second parking lot on the Puerto Ferro peninsula and leads to the lighthouse, with a side path to Puerto Ferro Beach (USFWS). Puerto Ferro bay itself is a boat harbor: Coast Pilot 5 gives 6 to 8 ft in the 250-yard entrance and 7 to 15 ft inside, with a sunken rock about 0.5 mile inside the entrance at 18°06'21"N, 65°25'30"W.
