Manchioneel Bay Mooring Field (Cooper Island)

18° 23.1′ N · 64° 31.0′ W

Cooper Island's protected mooring field off the Beach Club on the northwest shore, a natural stop on the island chain to The Baths and one of the most popular nights in the BVI.

Practical

Position is the OpenStreetMap 'Manchioneel Bay' node. Moorings maintained by Moor-SeaCure Ltd for boats up to 60 ft and 20 net tons. Cooper Island Beach Club (2026): 40 balls, 20 white first-come first-served (another page says 17) and 20 orange reservable on BoatyBall.com from 7 am on the day. White balls cannot be reserved or held with dinghies, paddle boards or lines; tie on before paying; they are usually full by 12 noon. Older counts differ (Noonsite 2019: 22 white plus 8 orange; Wikipedia: 30). Mooring fee not published (verify locally). Anchoring inside the field is strictly prohibited (Department of Conservation and Fisheries seagrass monitoring site); The Moorings calls holding poor; anchor outside the field beyond the seagrass, in Haulover Bay or at Salt Island. Currents and backwinding swing boats in different directions, so leave room. Two dinghy docks (do not lock dinghies to them). No trash disposal on the island (collectors Kevin and G pass by around 4 pm for a small fee); ice sold at the bars. The Moorings lists water, ice, wi-fi, electricity and laundry. Off-season: the resort closed from August 3, 2026 and its website gives a reopening date of November 1, 2026; the yachtsmen page marks the moorings 'closed for the season' in the meantime, so do not count on a ball or a dinner ashore before then.

Best for

A sociable mooring with dinner, rum and a brewery ashore

Season

Year-round anchorage; resort and moorings closed August 3 to November 1, 2026
