Honeymoon Beach (Water Island)

18° 19.0′ N · 64° 57.4′ W · approximate

Water Island's palm-lined beach in Druif Bay, a short dinghy or ferry ride from Charlotte Amalie, with Dinghy's Beach Bar on the sand. It was hand-built in the early 1950s, when 200 truckloads of rock were hauled away and sand was dredged in.

Practical

Position approximate: the OpenStreetMap beach point. All USVI beaches are public when approached from the water (Wikipedia). The Water Island ferry from Crown Bay lands at Phillips Landing, about 10 minutes, and golf carts can be rented to explore (Wikipedia). Anchor off in Druif Bay (see the Druif Bay entry) and swim or dinghy in; keep clear of swimmers. Noonsite reports dinghy thefts at the Water Island dinghy dock: lock it.

Best for

A swim-and-lunch beach day close to town
