Snorkel· George Dog· Virgin Islands (BVI, USVI and Spanish Virgins)

George Dog

18° 29.5′ N · 64° 27.5′ W · approximate

The northern Dog, with day moorings off its southwest bay and the classic Bronco Billy dive: an archway into a shallow canyon that opens into a coral amphitheatre.

Practical

Coordinate approximate: off the southwest bay (OpenStreetMap coastline). NPT moorings are day use only (overnight use is illegal), 90-minute limit, first-come, first-served; orange balls for non-diving use, white for diving, yellow for commercial boats. A Marine Conservation Permit is required. Dive sites (Dive BVI): Bronco Billy, 20 to 45 ft, novice, excellent second dive but 'in the winter months the site can be an impossible feat'; Ledges/Dolphin Rocks, 20 to 50 ft, only on calm days, best in summer when bait fish draw barracuda, mackerel, bonito and tarpon. Sunchaser Scuba notes a southern stingray cleaning station at about 75 ft in the deeper northern part of Bronco Billy.
