Cinnamon Bay

18° 21.3′ N · 64° 45.5′ W

St John's longest beach, backed by the park's only campground, a café and a water-sports hut, with snorkeling around tiny Cinnamon Cay.

Practical

Position is the Wikipedia point for Cinnamon Bay. Cinnamon Cay (32 ft high) sits in the bay (Coast Pilot); snapper patrol its steep slopes and pillar coral grows in the northwest corner (NPS). Dinghy tether at Little Cinnamon beach, for vessels 16 ft LOA or less (Compendium); no overnight NPS mooring field here, so use Maho or Francis. Ashore: Cinnamon Bay campground and cottages, the Rain Tree Café (breakfast, lunch and dinner), a general store, food truck, rentals (kayaks, paddleboards, small sailboats) and the park's night-sky program every other Wednesday at 8:15 pm, November to May (NPS ranger page). Current around the point can be strong; no lifeguard. Volleyball and the largest beach parking lot on the island mean crowds by mid-morning.

Best for

Long beach walk, snorkel and a meal ashore
