Yongkasem Bay (Monkey Beach) Anchorage
7° 44.6′ N · 98° 45.7′ E
A jungle-backed bay on Phi Phi Don's western arm with picnic beaches, great snorkelling and a large troop of crab-eating macaques. The Pilot rates it an ideal overnight stop at any time of year.
Practical
Southeast Asia Pilot waypoint 07°44.618N 98°45.699E. Anchor outside the seaward edge of the coral in 15 m, or take one of the plentiful government moorings, mostly free after 5pm. Time the tides for dinghy access to the town beach. Do not feed the macaques; they steal food and bags.
Best for
A quieter overnight than Ton Sai, in either monsoon
