Sarasin Bridge (Phuket road link)
8° 12.1′ N · 98° 17.9′ E
The 660 m bridge that joined Phuket to the mainland across the Pak Phra channel in 1967. Since the parallel Thepkasattri (Sarasin II) bridge opened in 2011, the old span carries only pedestrians.
Practical
Bridges at the western end of the Chong Pak Phra channel give about 12 m air draft (the old bridge's centre span has been removed), so the channel is closed to fixed-mast yachts; the western bar shifts constantly (SEAP). See it by car or dinghy from Yacht Haven, or from the Mai Khao anchorage.
Best for
A landmark and the reason masted yachts cannot cut through north of Phuket
