Saladan Pier and Village

7° 38.9′ N · 99° 2.5′ E

Lanta's main port and busiest village at the island's northern tip, where the fast ferries from Krabi, Ao Nang, Phi Phi and Phuket land. It has the island's best shopping, banks, dive shops and a nightly walking-street food market.

Practical

Supermarkets near the pier include Lanta Mart and a Lotus's go fresh; a walking-street food market sets up nearby in the evening, and there are 7-Eleven stores. Fuel stations (for example V.T. Petroleum on the Khlong Dao road) are road stations, so bring jerry cans. Clinics: Ban Saladan Clinic and Dr. Pad Clinic. The pier is busy with ferries and dive boats; land the dinghy with care or come by road from Khlong Dao. Power cables too low for sailing yachts cross the channel between Lanta Noi and Lanta Yai at Saladan, so approach the pier from the west. Ferry schedules are high-season only; Wikivoyage lists a daily Krabi ferry at 11:30am and Phi Phi ferries at 11:30am and 2:00pm, with only 1-2 daily Phi Phi ferries in low season (fares verify locally).
