Racha Noi South Tip (manta dive)

7° 27.6′ N · 98° 18.3′ E · approximate

Granite boulders and deep walls off the southern point of Racha Noi, one of the best dives in the Phuket area and the only local site where manta rays are seen regularly, mostly from Nov to Apr.

Practical

Position derived from the southernmost point of Racha Noi in OSM (7.4622 N, 98.3051 E), moved just offshore. Depths beyond 40 m and strong currents; for intermediate and advanced divers (Phuket 101). Visibility often over 25 m. Day boats from Chalong usually do two dives at Racha Noi and one at Racha Yai, leaving about 8am and back 5pm-5:30pm. With no anchorage at the tip, drift-dive with a boat tender, or anchor at Racha Noi East or West and dinghy round in calm conditions.
