Nai Harn Bay Anchorage
7° 46.4′ N · 98° 18.1′ E
A favourite high-season anchorage at the south-west tip of Phuket: a wide, casuarina-backed beach with protected land behind it, a freshwater lake and the renovated The Nai Harn resort (formerly the Royal Phuket Yacht Club) on the north side. It is the main gathering point for cruising yachts at Christmas.
Practical
8-10 m; good holding almost anywhere in the bay (SEAP). The beach faces SW, so surf can make dinghy landings difficult early and late in the season; leave in the SW monsoon. Beach bars, massage huts and restaurants line the road behind the beach (a beach massage was about 300 THB/hour per Phuket 101); upmarket restaurants are a short taxi ride inland. Phuket Town is about 45 minutes by taxi or bus. Windmill Viewpoint and Promthep Cape are nearby.
Best for
High-season beach anchorage and the Christmas cruiser gathering
Season
Nov-Apr; exposed to SW swell May-Oct
