Laem Haad Beach and Sandbar (Koh Yao Yai)
8° 4.1′ N · 98° 35.8′ E
Koh Yao Yai's most photographed beach, a white-sand cape at the island's north-east tip whose sandbar becomes wide enough to walk far out into the bay at low tide.
Practical
Position from the OpenStreetMap beach way (Laem Had Beach). No entrance fee per Phuket101. Explorertom warns it is very tidal and busy with day-trip boats; one reviewer found it less spectacular at a big low tide than in drone photos. Limited food stalls; Laleuca Cafe on the road is the landmark for the turn-off. By sea, approach only by dinghy: the sandbar and shoals extend well off the cape, so check the chart and come near mid-to-high tide.
Best for
Low-tide sandbar walk and swim
