Koh Rok Anchorage B (South Channel)

7° 13.0′ N · 99° 3.6′ E

The most secure spot at Koh Rok, inside the channel between Rok Nok and Rok Nai, with the park beaches on either side and reef snorkelling straight off the boat.

Practical

Southeast Asia Pilot: the most secure anchorage of the group. The channel shoals to about 3 m nearest Koh Rok Nok; navigate with care and a good lookout. Use the orange Marine Department moorings where they are deep enough. The islands are very busy with day boats from about 10am to 5pm: arrive late in the afternoon and stay overnight to have the beaches to yourself. Fee 400 THB per person per day, collected by a Marine Department speedboat (verify locally). Barbecues are prohibited on the beaches. Thainationalparks.com says overnight stays need permission from the park HQ, obtained by phone; the island closes from 1 June to 30 September.
