Koh Rok Anchorage A (East Channel)
7° 12.8′ N · 99° 4.2′ E
The eastern entrance to the channel between the twin Koh Rok islands, with white sand, turquoise water and fringing reef on both sides.
Practical
Southeast Asia Pilot (56 nm from Ao Chalong): anchor in 12-15 m in the eastern approach to the channel, on the east side of Koh Rok Nok, or in 3-6 m at the north end depending on ground swell. Semi-sheltered in both seasons, though the Pilot's 2025 update says the best protection is in the NE monsoon and it can be uncomfortable in the SW monsoon; 8-12 m on sand with good holding, but check your set for coral patches. The Marine Department has laid 25 orange moorings in the channel and around the islands; some are in water too shallow for yachts, so inspect before use. White buoys off the fringing reef east of Rok Nok are for speedboats and longtails only. Park fee collected by speedboat on arrival.
