Koh Muk South Anchorage (Hat Farang / Charlie Beach)

7° 21.5′ N · 99° 17.5′ E

A secluded, southwest-facing bay off Hat Farang (Charlie Beach), Koh Muk's sunset beach, with good mud holding, small resorts and a cliff-top bar.

Practical

Southeast Asia Pilot (14 nm from Koh Lanta lighthouse; 2025 update): anchor in 6 m on mud, excellent holding; a buoy is sometimes available. An ideal overnight stop in the NE monsoon, exposed in the SW monsoon. The beach is usable at all tides. Ferry and occasional cargo-ship wakes run up the beach, so drag the dinghy well up the sand or tie it to the swim line. Ashore: a family-run restaurant on the rocks at the south end that welcomes yachties, a cliff-top bar, several resorts, and a small bakery and mini market near the main road. The village on the east side is a 20-minute flat walk or a sidecar-motorbike ride and has good supermarkets. Longtails are noisy by day, quiet after dark. The Emerald Cave is about 1 nm north.
