Koh Muk West (Sabay Bay) Anchorage
7° 22.1′ N · 99° 17.0′ E
A dramatic anchorage between two towering cliffs off a tiny beach on Koh Muk's west coast, a few hundred metres from the entrance to the Emerald Cave.
Practical
Southeast Asia Pilot (13 nm from Koh Lanta lighthouse): anchor only in the NE monsoon, in 6-8 m off the small beach. The shoreline north and south is full of crevices and caves for dinghy exploring, and a small freshwater creek runs out at the beach. A rough path climbs over the hill to the main village. The Emerald Cave entrance is a few hundred metres south, marked by mooring buoys and ropes, and often crowded with day boats and untidy lines.
Best for
Staging for an early-morning Emerald Cave swim
Season
NE monsoon (Nov-Apr) only
