Koh Liang Group Anchorage
7° 6.3′ N · 99° 26.0′ E
Two tall limestone islands, Koh Liang Tai and Koh Liang Nua (Koh Lao Liang), with small beaches, bird's-nest caves and a sea-gypsy village, and a seasonal climbing camp on the beach.
Practical
Southeast Asia Pilot (31 nm from Koh Lanta lighthouse): anchor on the sandy patches on the SE side (A), the NE (B) or the west (C) in 8-10 m, well off the reef edge, which extends about 250 m offshore and rises vertically from 6 m, so take special care with the anchor. Ashore: small backpacker rock-climbing resorts with basic Thai restaurants, and a small sea-gypsy village where seafood and coconuts can be had for money or barter. The islands are bird's-nest concessions, guarded with firearms (Wikipedia): do not enter the caves or land on nest cliffs. Part of Mu Ko Phetra National Park.
