Koh Chang Southwest Monsoon and Rainy Season (May–Oct)
11° 57.9′ N · 102° 19.0′ E · approximate
From May to October the southwest monsoon brings rain, more wind and swell on Koh Chang's west coast. Rain peaks June to September, dive visibility drops around Koh Rang, and the charter fleets mostly stand down.
Practical
Thai National Parks: rainy season May–October, with the most rain June–September. Iamkohchang: June–October brings more wind, waves and lower visibility, especially around Koh Rang; diving still runs but depends on the weather. Aqua Charters gives the main sailing season as November–April. In this season use the SW-sheltered anchorages: Koh Wai northeast, Koh Rang north, the Koh Rang–Koh Tun gap and Koh Maisi Yai east. Ao Bang Bao, Ao Salak Phet and the Koh Kut Maisi Lek bay hold in both seasons. Waterfalls run best now. The coordinate marks Ao Bang Bao.
