Bang Bao Pier Village
11° 58.1′ N · 102° 18.9′ E
A former fishing village of stilt houses along a 1 km pier, now mostly souvenir shops, dive centres and big seafood restaurants built out over the water. There is a lighthouse at the far end.
Practical
Southeast Asia Pilot: a 1 km jetty with shops and restaurants, and the main departure point for tour and dive boats and for ferries to the southern islands. Use the dinghy dock at Buddha View Restaurant on the north side. Local guides list dive shops, minimarts, a pharmacy, ATMs, ticket agents and inter-island boat companies on the pier, and guesthouses at 400–2,000 THB a night (prices from older guides, verify locally). It is busiest early morning and late afternoon as the tour boats come and go. Most Koh Chang dive centres run their boats from here, including BB Divers, Koh Chang Divers and Local Divers. A 7-Eleven is at the head of the pier.
