Hippy Bar (Ao Khao Kwai, Koh Phayam)
9° 45.8′ N · 98° 24.5′ E
Phayam's most famous bar, a ramshackle ship-shaped fantasy built mostly from driftwood washed up after the 2004 tsunami, at the north end of Buffalo Bay.
Practical
Coordinate is the OSM-mapped bar. It is right ashore from the Ao Khao Kwai anchorage (Southeast Asia Pilot 09°45.624N, 98°24.243E, 4–5 m in the north of the bay), so land the dinghy on the beach. It works as a sundowner stop with the bay open to the west. Hours vary with the season; low season is very quiet on Phayam (Wikivoyage, August 2024).
Best for
Sundowners in a driftwood shipwreck
