9° 45.6′ N · 98° 24.2′ E
Buffalo Bay on Phayam's northwest coast is quieter and clearer than Ao Yai. It has the Hin Talu rock formations and the famous driftwood Hippy Bar, built from wood washed ashore after the 2004 tsunami.
Practical
Southeast Asia Pilot position 09°45.624N, 98°24.243E. Anchor in 4–5 m in the north of the bay. Open to the west, so use it in NE-monsoon weather. Beach bars and restaurants are mapped along the bay (OSM), and the main village and pier are a short motorbike ride east.
