Haad Rin Nai Anchorage
9° 40.5′ N · 100° 3.6′ E · approximate
Sunset Beach, the west-facing beach on the Haad Rin peninsula, beside the Haad Rin ferry pier: a day stop for the bars and a walk across to Sunrise Beach.
Practical
Position approximate: the SE Asia Pilot's published waypoint for this anchorage (09°41.203N 100°01.062E) plots several miles west of Haad Rin, off Ban Tai, so this position is placed about 400 m west of the Haad Rin Queen Pier (OpenStreetMap) instead; confirm visually. Pilot: anchor in 5–10 m; the beach is fringed with coral; wind channelled between Samui and Phangan often sets up a ground swell, making it 'a marginal stopover for a cruising yacht' and a day anchorage only. The Pilot adds that only the deaf could sleep here overnight. Keep clear of the Samui (Big Buddha pier) ferries using the Haad Rin pier.
