Ban Koh Jum Village and Pier

7° 47.8′ N · 98° 59.5′ E

The fishing village on Koh Jum's southeast tip, the island's main settlement, with a pier, a small market, shops selling everyday basics, seafood restaurants and a fuel point.

Practical

Pier position from OpenStreetMap (Tha Ruea Ko Jum). This is where speedboats to neighbouring islands call (thehappyjetlagger.com). Small shops sell basics, beer and spirits; there is a small market (OSM 7.7938N 98.9911E) and a barrel-pump fuel point (OSM 7.7934N 98.9910E). Cash: sources disagree. The happyjetlagger.com (updated September 2026) and samuiislandexplorer.com say there are no ATMs, while thailandmagazine.com reports one beside the hospital, so bring enough baht. Travel agencies here give cash against a credit card for about 4%. Restaurants nearby include Rimtang, Koh Jum Seafood, Mama Cooking and Mr. Boy Cafe. A predominantly Muslim village: keep alcohol out of sight and dress modestly away from the beach.
