Ao Mai Pai Beach (Bamboo Bay)
7° 28.8′ N · 99° 5.3′ E
Lanta's southernmost beach before the national park headland, a secluded bay with a handful of resorts at the end of the coast road.
Practical
Wikivoyage lists Ao Mai Pai (Bamboo Bay) as the southernmost beach, with resorts. Southeast Asia Pilot's Hat Khlong Chak waypoint (7°28.712N 99°05.166E) lies just off this bay: good holding in 6-10 m, but an uncomfortable ground swell, so use it as a NE-monsoon day stop. The national park headquarters and lighthouse are a short walk south along the road. Restaurants at the beach include the Bamboo Bay Valley Restaurant and The Last Beach (OpenStreetMap).
Best for
Secluded southern beach next to the national park
Season
Nov-Apr (NE monsoon); exposed in the SW monsoon
