Port Victoria Quarantine Anchorage

4° 37.7′ S · 55° 28.1′ E

The designated Q-flag anchoring zone off Port Victoria, where every yacht arriving from abroad must stop and wait to be boarded by health, customs, immigration and port security officers. Port Victoria is the only official port of entry and exit for the whole of Seychelles.

Practical

Eden Island Marina's published entry guide gives the anchoring zone at Queenie Bay as 04°37.665'S 055°28.120'E. Fly the Q flag and stay at anchor in the outer harbour until free pratique is granted; the Ministry of Health's entomology team sprays yachts on arrival. Call Port Control on VHF 12 (Noonsite) at least two hours before arrival; Eden Island Marina says Port Control can also be raised 24 hours on VHF 16. Have about 10 copies of the crew and passenger list ready for the boarding officers. Cruisers (hackingfamily.com, 2009) describe most of the zone as hardpan and fairly exposed; they found sand over rock at the western edge (04°37.1'S 55°28.4'E). Do not enter Victoria harbour in the dark for the first time. Arriving outside working hours (8am-12pm and 1pm-3pm Mon-Fri) risks overtime charges or a night here. Noonsite's March 2024 fee schedule lists a compulsory arrival launch charge of SCR 4,125 plus clearance SCR 175 for vessels up to 150 GT (verify locally). After clearance, move to the inner harbour or Eden Island; Noonsite notes this anchorage is a long, wet dinghy ride from the yacht club.
