Lost City Dive
4° 42.4′ S · 55° 33.3′ E · approximate
Canyons cut into granite benches off Mahé's south-east coast, ending in a swim-through, where the fish run larger than average: sharks, barracuda, stingrays and huge schools of yellow snappers.
Practical
Approximate: scaled from the numbered site marker on Big Blue Divers' printed dive-site map (2020), georeferenced against the OpenStreetMap outlines of Ste Anne, Moyenne and Ile Cachée; the map is schematic, so treat the pin as within roughly 0.5-1 km. Seyvillas: about 3 nautical miles off the south-east coast, up to 30 m, canyons in granite benches with a swim-through at the southern end; sharks, barracudas, stingrays, schools of fish and wrasses; not recommended in the SE monsoon. Big Blue Divers site 40: 15-25 m, often a current, deep dive, with nurse and reef sharks, turtles, seasonal dolphins and whale sharks. The map marker sits closer inshore than Seyvillas' 3 nm, so the true site may lie further east. Dive with a licensed Seychelles centre (Big Blue Divers lists it as a long-distance boat trip from Beau Vallon); do not anchor a yacht on the rocks.
Best for
Advanced canyon and swim-through dive
Season
