Anse Royale Anchorage

4° 44.5′ S · 55° 31.3′ E · approximate

The largest town bay in southern Mahé, tucked behind a big fringing reef: a small free anchorage with snorkelling, a beach and the village's shops and restaurants ashore.

Practical

Approximate: placed off the middle of Anse Royale beach (OpenStreetMap) inside the reef; no published waypoint, so enter only in good light and sound in. The Moorings: free anchorage, no mooring buoys, anchoring area fairly small; overnight only in NW winds or calm seas (exposed in the SE trades). The beach is very popular on Sundays. Shops, hospital, banks and a Seypec fuel station ashore.

Best for

Lunch stop or calm-weather night on Mahé's southeast coast

Season

Overnight in NW monsoon (Dec-Apr) or calms only
