Hodoul Island Heronry (Victoria harbour)
4° 37.5′ S · 55° 27.2′ E
A small reclaimed island in the middle of the port where grey herons nest noisily by day and cattle egrets pour in to roost at sunset, a nature show from the yacht anchorage.
Practical
Coordinates from Wikipedia. Named after the corsair Jean-François Hodoul; once a coal store. A casino occupies the west point (Wikipedia). Cruisers anchored just east of it in about 9-10 m and describe the heron and egret colonies (hackingfamily.com). View from the boat; do not land on nesting areas.
Best for
Sunset bird flights from the inner anchorage
