Denis Island Sport Fishing (The Drop-Off)
3° 48.6′ S · 55° 39.6′ E · approximate
The edge of the Seychelles plateau, where the bottom falls from about 60 m to about 2,000 m, lies 10-15 minutes by boat from Denis and is known for black marlin, sailfish, yellowfin, wahoo and dogtooth tuna.
Practical
Fishing in Denis's protected waters is allowed only on the resort's organised charters, and all billfish are released. Late May to late September brings choppy seas but the best marlin and sailfish trolling; March-April and October-November are calmer. Spearfishing is banned throughout Seychelles. Coordinate is approximate: plotted off the island because the resort does not publish where the drop-off is.
Best for
Billfish on the Bank edge
Season
Year-round; marlin and sailfish best late May to late September
