D'Arros Island and Save Our Seas Research Centre
5° 24.9′ S · 53° 17.9′ E
A flat, oval 1.7 sq km coral island bought in 2012 for the Save Our Seas Foundation, whose D'Arros Research Centre (founded 2004) studies manta rays, sharks and hawksbill and green turtles here and on neighbouring St Joseph Atoll.
Practical
D'Arros was designated a nature reserve in 2014 and is privately run: there are no tourist facilities, and you cannot land without the owners' and IDC's permission. Seychelles fody introduced from Cousin in 1965 now number a few hundred. A 975 m unpaved airstrip (FSDA) serves the island. Coordinate is the island position from OpenStreetMap.
