Anse Possession Anchorage

4° 18.4′ S · 55° 43.5′ E · approximate

A 500 m reef-sheltered bay on the Curieuse Strait just west of Anse Petite Cour, a quieter alternative to Côte d'Or in the south-east trades with Curieuse Marine National Park directly across the channel.

Practical

The beach is shallow, with the reef drop-off about 300 m from shore, and the reef keeps the surface calm in normal weather (SeyVillas); anchor outside the drop-off and dinghy across the flat at mid to high tide. It lies on the north coast, in Praslin's lee in the SE trades, but no cruising guide in the sources checked lists depths or holding, so sound your way in and treat it as a settled-weather spot. Seaweed comes ashore after heavy rain and in the NW monsoon; watch for stingrays in the shallows early in the morning (SeyVillas). Fishermen work from the east end; guesthouses (Chalets Anse Possession) and a grocery on the coast road. Position approximate: about 500 m north of the OSM-mapped beach, outside the reef edge described by SeyVillas.
