Anse Cocos (La Digue)
4° 22.0′ S · 55° 51.1′ E · approximate
A remote, palm-backed bay on La Digue's southeast coast reachable only on foot or by sea, with a sheltered corner for swimming - an overnight option when the northwest monsoon is blowing.
Practical
Coordinate approximate: the OpenStreetMap label point for the bay, about 120 m off the beach. The Moorings: 'On the southeast side of the island, Anse Coco is well protected in northwesterly winds.' Navigare suggests overnight at Anse Cocos 'if the weather is convenient', otherwise La Passe. Exposed and rough in the southeast trades (May-October, SeyVillas) - do not use then. Depth and holding not published; anchor in sand patches in daylight with good visibility. Swim toward the island's eastern tip where it is usually safe; snorkelling is good. Ashore, the path continues to Anse Caiman (bar) and back to Grand Anse.
Best for
NW-monsoon overnight away from the harbour
Season
Nov–Apr (NW monsoon); untenable in the SE trades
