Port Sidney Marina (Sidney)

48° 39.2′ N · 123° 23.6′ W

A large modern marina behind a breakwater right on the Sidney waterfront, a few steps from the shops and cafes of Beacon Avenue. It is the classic first or last stop for boats crossing Haro Strait, and a busy spot to clear Canadian customs by phone.

Practical

Coordinate is the OSM marina outline. About 320 slips for boats up to about 42 m (138 ft); 30, 50 and 100 amp power, water, washrooms, showers, laundry and Wi-Fi. Call VHF 66A on low power before you enter or leave the breakwater; phone 250-655-3711. Coming from the north, pass between the two buoys outside the entrance (the eastern one marks a reef) and never cut in between the north end of the breakwater and the shore. Shoal water lies a few feet inshore of the shoreside dock. Reservations recommended in summer. Customs: the check-in dock is at the end of G dock with a direct phone to CBSA (Telephone Reporting Centre 1-888-226-7277); it holds only one or two boats and officers sometimes inspect in summer. Pump-out (fee) between D and E docks, for boats up to about 12 m (40 ft). No fuel listed here; Van Isle and Canoe Cove have fuel docks. Groceries and liquor are a short walk into town.
