Copeland Islands Marine Park

50° 0.3′ N · 124° 48.7′ W · approximate

A chain of low, wooded islands and islets a few miles north of Lund, lining Thulin Passage. The small coves between them make an easy first or last night, close to Lund but already wild. Seals, eagles and passing orcas are common, and kayakers camp on the islands.

Practical

Position is the OSM centre of the island group, not a specific anchorage; the two main coves are in the middle of the chain. Coves are small and tight, so stern-tie to shore; cruisers report rings in the central cove. Holding is only fair and the central cove takes wash from boats in Thulin Passage. Not good if strong south-easterlies are forecast. Watch for rocks on the west side of the passage; low tide shows them. Fills early in summer. No water, fuel or docks; Lund is the nearest. Sewage must stay in your holding tank at anchor. Shore camping is by BC Parks registration (Middle and North Copeland sites). No campfires. Rockfish Conservation Areas limit fishing; check DFO shellfish closures.
