Savary Island (Keefer Bay)

49° 56.8′ N · 124° 47.1′ W

A long, low island of sand south-west of Lund, ringed with some of the finest white-sand beaches in BC and warm, shallow water in summer. There is no real harbour, so it is a fair-weather day or overnight stop.

Practical

Coordinate is the OSM point for Keefer Bay on the north shore, near the general store. Anchor off the north shore on sand within easy dinghy reach of the beach; the island gives no proper shelter, so leave if wind is forecast from the north or west. The small public dock on the north shore is for loading and unloading only. The Savary Island General Store (OSM lists 9 am to 5 pm) and a summer farmers' market are near the north shore. Water taxi to Lund. Much of the island is private: stay on public roads and beach accesses.
