Okeover Harbour (Okeover Inlet)

49° 59.4′ N · 124° 42.7′ W · approximate

The government dock near the head of Okeover Inlet, at the southern end of the Malaspina Inlet system. The inlet is quiet, sheltered and lined with oyster farms. It is the back door into Grace Harbour and Desolation Sound Marine Park, and the Laughing Oyster restaurant sits just above the dock.

Practical

Position is approximate, just off the Okeover Harbour road end and the Laughing Oyster. Run by the Okeover Harbour Authority, phone 604-483-3258, VHF 66A. The docks behind the L-shaped breakwater are for local working boats. Visitors use the outer breakwater, about 400 ft (120 m) on each side, side-tie with rafting allowed; one account gives 10-15 m (33-50 ft) alongside. No power and no water. The seaward side is exposed to northerlies. First come, first served; pay the wharfinger or use the self-registration envelope. Office open about 12:30 pm to 6:30 pm daily in summer. Launch ramp. Oyster and shellfish leases fill much of the inlet: keep clear of floats and do not anchor in lease areas.
