West Paniquian Island Anchorage (NE Monsoon)
13° 31.0′ N · 120° 56.5′ E · approximate
The recommended overnight spot outside the inner bays when the northeast monsoon (amihan) is blowing: sand west of Paniquian Island, sheltered by the island and the Mindoro shore.
Practical
Position approx: derived as about 400 m west of the OSM island point for Paniquian ('Panigulan Island', 13.51581N 120.94574E); verify on chart A3559. Noonsite (Apr 2024): suitable overnight safe anchorage west of Paniquian Island during the NE monsoon; sand bottom - choose depth to suit keel and scope. The Coral Garden snorkel reef lies just to the south-west - keep the anchor on sand. Useful when arriving late: Noonsite advises anchoring outside until daylight rather than threading the inner reefs at night.
Best for
Overnight stop Nov-Mar without entering the inner harbour
