Tanon Strait Whale and Dolphin Watching (Bais)
9° 33.3′ N · 123° 10.8′ E · approximate
Whale and dolphin watching in the Tanon Strait between Bais and Cebu. The strait is the country's largest marine protected area, and its breeding, feeding and resting grounds support 11 species of marine mammals.
Practical
Position approx: the mouth of South Bais Bay facing the strait; trips leave from Capinahan Wharf in South Bais Bay. A group can hire a boat for about PHP 3,000 (Wikivoyage, undated; verify locally), then snorkel by the white sandbar. The Tanon Strait Protected Seascape (Proclamation 1234, 1998) covers more than 5,000 sq km (Wikipedia). Bais's Sipong Festival is on 7 September (Wikivoyage). Keep your distance from pods.
