Twin Lakes (Balinsasayao)
9° 21.2′ N · 123° 10.7′ E
Two volcanic crater lakes, Balinsasayao (76 ha, about 90 m deep) and Danao (30 ha), in dipterocarp rainforest at about 830 m in the Mount Talinis range, 14.5 km west of Dumaguete. It is a natural park and, since 2025, an ASEAN Heritage Park.
Practical
Lake position from OpenStreetMap (Nominatim). Declared protected in 2000 (Wikipedia). Kayak rentals PHP 150-300; entrance PHP 50-100 (philippinedives.com Dauin guide, 2026). Reached by 4WD or habal-habal (philippinedives.com Dumaguete guide). Hiking trails and birdwatching. Wikivoyage notes the flora and fauna have been degraded but it is still a good day trip. Cooler up high: bring a layer and rain gear.
