Romblon North Bay Moorings (Yacht Club bay)

12° 35.4′ N · 122° 16.4′ E

The small bay just north of Romblon harbour where the town's expat-founded yacht club laid heavy moorings for visiting yachts - the usual place to stop in the north-east monsoon.

Practical

Position: Arnak (Nov/Dec 2012) on a Romblon Yacht Club mooring in 33 m. Soggy Paws (April 2018): two club moorings out in the middle and one close in meant for tying stern to the sea wall; the close-in one is in about 60 ft and looked substantial on inspection; they found nowhere under 80 ft with 360-degree swinging room to anchor. Savannah (2014): very deep (>100 ft) except a little room for shallow drafts closer to shore. Fees reported: 100 PHP/night (2011-2014), 150 PHP/day (2018) - verify locally, and see Romblon Boat & Yacht Club, whose facilities the PGYC directory lists as temporarily closed. Dinghy to the club ramp or the marble factory landing (gate may be locked at night). Good in the NE amihan; Soggy Paws warns the mooring area is NOT a typhoon hole. Local kids swim out to boats - be friendly but keep them out of the dinghy.

Best for

Secure moorings near town in NE winds

Season

Nov–Apr (amihan); not a typhoon shelter
