Malapascua North Anchorage

11° 20.9′ N · 124° 6.8′ E

A small hard-sand spot tucked into the bay on Malapascua's north side - the fallback when the SW monsoon or southerlies make the south coast untenable.

Practical

Changing Spots (June 2018): 11°20.861'N 124°06.841'E, small space, very hard sand at 15 ft (4.5 m) - set and check the anchor carefully; poor Globe signal. A larger sandy patch around the NE corner at about 11°20.986'N 124°06.501'E (approx) in 24 ft with good holding was exposed and very uncomfortable when the wind went west. Solita (2012): in the SW monsoon you can anchor off the northern beach. Changing Spots did not recommend Malapascua in the SW monsoon: swell wraps round both ends giving beam seas, with westerly squalls of 20-25 kn.
