Malapascua Lighthouse Anchorage (NW)

11° 20.5′ N · 124° 6.6′ E

A quieter anchorage off the lighthouse at Malapascua's north-west corner, away from the resort strip and its banka traffic, with good shelter in the NE monsoon.

Practical

RCC/Plainsong (2025): 11°20.5'N 124°06.6'E, easy access, good shelter in NE, good cell signal; anchor off the lighthouse avoiding a red mooring buoy where dive bangkas raft up; a generator ashore can be heard. Arnak (2012): 11°20.40'N 124°06.52'E in 12 m, patchy bottom. Hacking Family (Feb 2022, NE winds) anchored on the SW side at 11°19.77'N 124°06.57'E in 28 ft (8.5 m) sand. A WWII Japanese wreck lies in the bay - Katie Lee (2011) had to re-anchor clear of it. Solita (2012): good NE-season anchorage in front of the lighthouse on the western side. Webb warns of wind shifts at sundown. Land at the lighthouse village and walk 20-30 minutes to the south-coast resorts or take a habal-habal (about 10-30 PHP).
