Kayangan Cove Anchorage (Coron Island)

11° 57.7′ N · 120° 13.7′ E

The cliff-ringed cove below Kayangan Lake on Coron Island's NW side, where a yacht can lie stern-to the limestone in total shelter and walk up to the lake before the tour boats arrive.

Practical

Arnak (2013): 11 57.665N 120 13.668E in 20 m mud with a stern line to the rocks; you cross two shallow reef bars with a minimum of 3.5 m and cannot get into the inner lagoon where the tour bangkas tie up for the walk to the lake. RCC/Plainsong (2025) gives 11 57.8N 120 13.7E: almost no detail on Navionics, so navigate to the coordinates and eyeball in; depths in the entrance are fine if you keep slightly closer to the small island to starboard going in; holding can be tricky but it is very well protected inside. Webb (2009) describes the same pair of tiny coves as Siko (Elbow) Cove: entrance bears 333 deg to the Coron Harbor pier, marked by a white drop-off and partly hidden by a small island; only a few metres wide, so catamarans may not fit; check by dinghy first and tie to the walls. Fees: a landing charge to walk up to the lake (PHP 200 per person in 2013; see the Coron Island fees entry for current rates, verify locally), and 'entrance fee' requests from unofficial freelancers in small bangkas (RCC 2025); in 2013 locals asked Brigadoon PHP 500 to anchor. This is Tagbanwa ancestral domain: be respectful, take no fish or shells, and expect day-tour crowds from about 9am. Mosquitoes at dusk (Brigadoon).
