Puerto Galera is not a port of entry; the nearest office that can complete full Coast Guard registration plus Customs, Immigration and Quarantine is at Batangas Port, about 15 NM north across the Verde Island Passage.

Position: OSM 'Coast Guard Station Batangas' (Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog is next door). Noonsite Batangas position 13 44.18N 121 01.41E (Batangas Bay). Procedure (PGYC): register immediately with the nearest Coast Guard station on arrival and submit the yacht to CIQ inspection; documents - original last port clearance, quarantine clearance copy, certificate of registration copy, crew list, passport copies (info page and latest PH immigration stamp), statement of purpose (tourism/recreation). CDS/BIR stamp PHP 115 (PGYC, date unstated - verify locally). Contact PGYC at least 14 days ahead for help. Warnings (Noonsite, May 2023): no dock for sailboats at Batangas; agents have tried to extort large fees to hire a government barge to bring officials out to boats anchored near the ferry jetty, and may demand re-registration as a Philippine vessel - Noonsite suggests leaving the boat at Puerto Galera and travelling to Batangas by ferry to clear (visit Customs before Immigration), or clearing in at Puerto Princesa if arriving from the south. Arrive on a weekday. Batangas also has a boatyard with a 40-ton travelift (18 ft max beam) that allows liveaboards (Noonsite). Sail The Philippines (Luzon page, as of January 2025): Batangas is a check-in/check-out port but cruising yachts have reported varied experiences with CIQ over four years, so it is not recommended.
