Basilica del Santo Nino

10° 17.6′ N · 123° 54.1′ E

The Basilica Minore del Santo Niño, founded in 1565 and rebuilt in 1740, is the oldest church in the Philippines and keeps the Santo Niño image Magellan gave to Rajah Humabon's consort in 1521 - the spiritual centre of the Sinulog festival.

Practical

Next to Magellan's Cross on Plaza Sugbo. The belfry and facade were heavily damaged in the 2013 Bohol earthquake and restored. Dress modestly; expect huge crowds every Friday and through January (Fiesta Señor and Sinulog, third Sunday of January).
