Xcalak Port Captain
18° 16.3′ N · 87° 50.1′ W · approximate
Xcalak has a friendly harbour master and naval station but no immigration office, so it is a courtesy stop rather than a full port of entry.
Practical
Coordinate is the village reference point (Wikipedia), not the office. 2015 cruiser: the harbourmaster speaks excellent English; arriving from Belize they could not check in here, but after he checked their papers they were allowed ashore. January 2009: formalities done at 8 am, no immigration, passport copies taken, 219 pesos paid. Noonsite: to clear in or out here you must travel to the inland port of Chetumal - a five-hour bus ride each way; another note says Majahual has replaced Xcalak as the southern clearance port. Call the harbour master on VHF 16 if unsure of the reef entrance.

Courtesy check-in on arrival from or departure to Belize
