Timbabichi Anchorage
25° 16.2′ N · 110° 56.4′ W
A remote cove on the peninsula north of Los Gatos, watched over by the abandoned two-storey ranch house that yachtsmen use as a landmark, with green desert arroyos to hike.
Practical
Coordinate is the anchored position (25°16.221'N, 110°56.383'W) logged by the yacht BlueJacket in April 2012—15 ft over sand—checked in-water against the OpenStreetMap coastline. The bay is wide open from north-north-east through south-south-east (BlueJacket); go only in settled or westerly weather. Lindblad's ship anchored here for the night, landed kayaks from the beach and held a bonfire ashore. The rancho is privately owned—ask before walking far inland. The two-storey house 'can be seen from the sea' and is used as a navigation aid (Baja Nomad). Fish camps on the beach; no store—provision at Agua Verde or San Evaristo. Treat as a settled-weather stop and sound in. Not inside Loreto Bay National Park.
Best for
A quiet night and an arroyo hike between Los Gatos and Agua Verde
